Transfer can be made among the institutions of which equivalency is recognized by High Education Council.
Requirements for General Quota:
General quota is for the applicants that are successful in equivalent programs in or out of METU. Equivalency of the programs are evaluated according to the education period, ÖSS score type, etc… This quota is for all all TC and KKTC students and international students studying in a high education institution in Turkey.
The students must:
a) be registered in an equivalent high education institution during the application.
b) Have completed at least two semesters in their program (except English Prep. Class)
c) Have proivded the ÖSS score condition which was determined and announced by the relevant Administrative Committee
d) Have taken and passed all the courses of their current program completed semesters (minimum DD for courses with credit, at least S for non-credit courses, for METU) Applications of the students who have not completed their courses in their current curriculum and those who did not pass any course (for METU, FF, FD, NA, U, I, W) will not be evaluated.
e) Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.50/4.00 (or minimum 70/100)
f) Have fullfilled the other requirements of the applied program if there is. (portfolio, interview etc…)
Additional Criteria for the Department of City and Regional Planning
• Those who apply at the end of second or fourth semester must have a minimum 2.5/4 or 75/100 grade average from Planning Studio Courses which they took until then.
• Those who apply at the end of second semester must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5/4 or 75/100.
• Those who apply at the end of fourth semester must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.00/4 or 80/100.
METU SPECIAL QUOTA
METU SPECIAL QUOTA is for the students of METU who cannot be allowed for general quota because of being unsuccessful and program discord. The aim of this quota is to allow students who have been placed to improper departments to continue education in other departments.
a) The applicant’s ÖSS/YÖS/TCS score, which belongs to the year he/she was accepted to his/her current program, must be higher than the ÖSS/YÖS/TCS general quota minimum score of that year for the applied program.
b) The student must be registered to an undergraduate program in METU during the application and must not be dismissed from the university for any reason at the end of the semester.The student must have completed at least two semesters (except the English Preparatory Class) in the undergraduate program.
c) The student must have successfully passed all the credit-courses in the current program. (minimum DD) d) The student must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 1.25.
e) The student must fullfill the other requirements of the applied program if there are.
• Those who apply for English Language teaching must have taken minimum BB from ENG 101 and ENG 102 courses.
• Those who apply for Business Administration must have taken minimum CC from ENG 101 and ENG 102 courses.
• Those who apply for Chemistry must have taken minimum CC from Chemistry courses. However, if the cumulative grade point average of the student is/above 3.00, DD from Chemistry courses will be enough.
International Students METU Special Quota
This quota is for successful international students (except TC or KKTC) who are studying abroad in an equivalent High Education Institution. This quota includes international students who do not have exam results such as YÖS or TCS.
The students:
a) Must be registered in an equivalent high education institution during the application.
b) Must have completed at least two semesters in the undergraduate program.
c) Must have successfully passed all the courses in his/her current program.
d) Must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5/4.0
e) Must fullfil the other requirements of the applied program if there are.
Applications of those who do not fullfil these criteria will not be evaluated.
Summer School
Courses and grades taken in the Summer school are not evaluated for Fall Semester applications.
English Proficiency Exam
The medium of instruction is English at METU, therefore candidates must have a minimum level of English. (except for Vocational School) English level of transfer applicants is determined by the English Proficiency Exam date of which is announced in the academic calendar. Some internationally equivalent English exams are also accepted by the University Senate. http://www.oidb.metu.edu.tr/english/epe.htm
English Proficiency document must be submitted during the application.
METU English Proficiency Exam will be held on June 12-17, 2008. Candidates who want to take this exam must apply until June 11, 2008. Information on the exam is available in http://www.oidb.metu.edu.tr/ingilizceyeterlik/index.html
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
Required documents must be submitted until the mentioned deadline. Applications with lacking documents are not evaluated.
1. Transcript: An official document will be taken from the current institution and it will show all the taken courses, grades and cumulative grade point average. Copy is not accepted. (*)
2.Exam result submitted during the admission to the current university (*)
For those of whom one nationality is TC and KKTC, attested copies of OSS exam result card and OSYS placement card which belong to the year the student was placed to his/her current program.
For those who are studying abroad and one nationality is TC and KKTC, the attested copy of the ÖSS exam result card.
For international students who are studying in Turkey or KKTC, attested copy of the exam result card which they submitted to their current university during admission. (YÖS, TCS, SAT etc.)
3. For applications out of METU, attested copy of all pages of the university catalog including course content and information on program)
4. Application Form: It can be taken from the Registrar’s Office or from the web page. Candidates who are applying for more than one program should fill out one form. Preferences should be indicated in this form and the form should be photocopied. This photocopy should be submitted for each program attached the required documents and application fee for each program.
5. Application fee: TC national METU students: 60YTL for each program, TC national non-METU students: 80 YTL for each program, international students: 60 USD. Application fee should be transferred to one of the bank accounts below and the bank receipt should be attached to application.
6. One photograph : Son altı ay içinde çekilmiş, önden görüntülü, öğrenciyi kolaylıkla tanıtabilecek şekilde, baş ve boyun açık, sakalsız olmalıdır, fotokopi kabul edilmez. (Fotoğraf arkasına Ad ve Soyad yazılmalıdır.)

For Architecture: An official document showing the candidate’s rank in the class and the class population for the last semester CV Letter of interest Portfolio including design or/and studies on art, photography, graphics, music etc...
For City and Regional Planning Portfolio including planning studies
For Industrial Design An official document showing the candidate’s rank in the class and the class population for the last semester Portfolio (maximum 20 A4 papers) including design works, for those who apply for the International Students METU Special Quota

APPLICATION DEADLINE
Applications must be submitted until July 18, 2008 by hand or post. Delays in post are not taken into account.
ANNOUNCEMENT OF RESULTS
The list of the accept students will be announced in the relevant web page on September , 2008. Written notification will not be made to the students.
