DIRECTIVE FOR THE SECONDARY MASTER'S NON-THESIS PROGRAM
AIM
Article 1:
The secondary (night school) master's program is designed for students who for whatever reason cannot enroll in a primary (daytime) master's program. The aim of the program is to help them develop the skills necessary to access, evaluate and interpret the information available about a subject that they are interested in so that they can to put that knowledge to practical use.
ESTABLISHING A PROGRAM
Article 2:
A secondary master's program is decided on by the recommendation of the Faculty Committee with the approval of the University Senate.
COURSE LOAD AND TIME LIMITS
Article 3:
A student in a secondary master's program must complete a total of not less than 30 credits, consisting of a minimum of 10 courses and a non-credit term project. A maximum of six semesters is allowed for completion of the course. No thesis is required.
APPLICATION AND ACCEPTANCE TO A PROGRAM
Article 4:
The requirements for acceptance to a secondary master's program are the same as for the primary master's program. Applications for this program will be evaluated by the person in charge of the concerned section of the Graduate School.
SUCCESS AND GRADUATION
Article 5:
The conditions for the success and graduation of a student in this program are the same as for the regular no-thesis master's program.
TUITION
Article 6:
The fee to be paid per credit by students accepted into the secondary master's program will be determined by the University Administrative Committee at the beginning of each semester. Each student's tuition will be based on the total number of credits taken each semester and must be deposited prior to the specified deadline into the bank account announced by the university.
SPECIAL STUDENT STATUS
Article 7:
The courses offered in the secondary master's program are open to those with special student status. Anyone who wants to be eligible to take courses as a special student must apply to the Registrar's Office and pay the regular master's program application fee prior to the specified deadline. Applications for this program will be evaluated by the person in charge of the concerned section of the Graduate School. Special students are accepted with the understanding that they will pay the same fees per credit as the other students in the secondary master's program.
Those taking courses with special student status will be allowed to apply for acceptance in the primary master's program. Upon acceptance into the primary master's program, a special student is given credit for all the courses taken within the previous four semesters provided the grade received was a BB or above. For every two credited courses, the student is considered to have used up one semester of the allotted time limit.
TRANSFER BETWEEN PROGRAMS
Article 8:
- Only students who are enrolled in the secondary program and those with special student status can register for courses in the secondary program. Students who are enrolled in the secondary program are not allowed to take courses in the primary master's program.
- A student who is enrolled in the primary master's program can transfer to the secondary program. Applications to do so will be evaluated by the person in charge of the concerned section of the Graduate School. Upon acceptance into the secondary master's program, the student is given credit for at most two of the courses taken within the previous four semesters. All the other courses taken will be given NI status. For every two credited courses, the student is considered to have used up one semester of the allotted time limit.
- Transfer from a secondary master's program to a primary master's program is not allowed.
LEAVE
Article 9:
The conditions for leave from a secondary master's program are the same as for the primary master's program.

Article 10:
The rules and regulations for the primary master's program apply for any conditions not specified here.
