INFORMATION ABOUT "RESIDENCE PERMIT"
(FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS)

Undergraduate or graduate students newly accepted to the University are sent acceptance letter to get student visa from the nearest Turkish Embassy. Student visa is usually valid for one month. Therefore, these students must register to the University within one month after they come to Turkey.

After registration, within two or three weeks, students should get "Residence Permit Information Form" from the International Students' Office. They should submit it to the Directorate of Security/Bureau of Residence Registration (Emniyet Müdürlügü/Yabancilar Subesi) and get a “Student Residence Permit” which is usually valid for one year. This residence permit is only for education; therefore working in Turkey for these students is illegal.

Unless your residence permit expires, you can use it for entering Turkey. For instance, when you go to your country for semester holiday, you do not need a visa for re-entering Turkey. Instead, you can enter with your residence permit.

When validity of your "Residence Permit" expires, you should take "Residence Permit Form" from the Registrar's Office, and submit this form to Directorate of Security/Bureau of Residence Registration (Emniyet Müdürlügü/Yabancilar Subesi) to extend your residence permit. Students, of whom the validity of Residence Permit expired, have maximum 15 days to extend their residence permit. Legal procedures will be applied for the students, who do not follow above mentioned procedures although the validity of their "Residence Permit" has expired.

The Residence Permit of the students, who have not registered, graduated, dismissed, left by own will or have on leave status (freeze the semester), are cancelled. These students must leave Turkey within 15 days or apply to Directorate of Security Bureau for a new residence permit. Otherwise, they will be sentenced to fine.

Those who are in “on leave” status for one semester and leave Turkey, must have a tourist visa for re-entering Turkey and renewing their registration. However, those who have been “on leave” for one year or more must have a student visa for renewing their registration. (Since, the residence permit is cancelled, these students cannot enter Turkey without a visa.)

Please remind that, it is your responsibility to be aware of these rules and regulations. Moreover, please pay attention to these rules in order to avoid any serious legal and financial problems ahead.

 

OTURMA İZNİ HAKKINDA GEREKLİ BİLGİLER
(ULUSLARARASI ÖĞRENCİLER İÇİN)

Üniversiteye yeni kabul edilen lisans ve lisansüstü yabancı öğrenciler, kabul mektuplarıyla birlikte, ülkelerindeki en yakın Türk elçiliğinden öğrenim vizesi alırlar. Bu vizeler, genellikle bir ay süreyle geçerlidir ve öğrenci Türkiye'ye geldikten sonra, bu bir ay içerisinde üniversiteye kayıt yaptırmak zorundadır.

Öğrenciler, kayıttan sonra iki-üç hafta içerisinde, Yabancı Öğrenciler Ofisi'nden, kapalı zarf içerisinde İkamet Bilgi Formu alırlar. Bu formu ve gerekli diger belgeleri, Emniyet Müdürlüğü Yabancılar Şubesi'ne sunarak genellikle bir yıl geçerli Öğrenim Amaçlı İkamet Tezkeresi alırlar. Bu tezkere öğrenim amaçlıdır ve öğrencilerin Türkiye'de çalışması yasaktır.

İkamet tezkereniz geçerli olduğu sürece, Türkiye’ye girmek için vize almanıza gerek yoktur. Örneğin, sömestr tatili için ülkenize gittiğinizde ve Türkiye’ye geri dönerken, oturma izninizle giriş yapabilirsiniz.

Yalnızca yeni kayıt olan yabancı uyruklu öğrenciler ikamet bilgi formlarını Yabancı Öğrenciler Ofisi'nden alırlar. Oturma iznini uzatmak isteyen eski öğrenciler, bu formları Öğrenci İşleri'nden alırlar. İkamet süresi dolanlar, en fazla 15 gün içerisinde ikametlerini uzatmak zorundadırlar. Aksi takdirde yasal işlem uygulanır.

Kayıtsız olan, izin alan (kayıt donduran), ilişiği kesilen, kendi isteğiyle ilişik kesen ve mezun olan öğrencilerin listesi her dönem Emniyet Müdürlüğü'ne iletilir ve bu öğrencilerin oturma izni iptal edilir. Bu nedenle, bu durumdaki öğrenciler, izin aldıktan, mezun olduktan veya ilişiği kesildikten sonra maksimum 15 gün içerisinde ülkeyi terketmek veya harçlı ikamet almak üzere Emniyet'e başvurmak zorundadır. Aksi takdirde yasal işlem uygulanır.

Bir seneden daha az bir süre izinli olan bir öğrenci, Türkiye'ye gelirken turist vizesiyle gelerek kayıt yaptırabilir. Ancak izin süresi bir yılı geçmişse, yeniden öğrenci vizesi alması gerekir. (İkamet tezkeresi iptal edildiği için, onunla giriş yapamaz)
