English Language Requirements at METU
Documentation of proficiency in English is required of all students entering METU. Applicants entering METU as freshmen and undergraduate students who have been accepted as transfers must take an English Proficiency Examination (except for the applicants whose language of instruction in their current university is English). Applicants accepted to undergraduate programs at METU, or who expect to be accepted, may submit the results of international English examinations such as TOEFL, IELTS taken within two years. Or alternatively, they may take the English Proficiency Examination offered by the School of Foreign Languages at METU. This examination is offered once a year in September to students entering as undergraduates, in September and June to students entering as graduates.
